About Our Teams

Marion Magic is sanctioned by USA Volleyball. This is our 31st year of offering club volleyball to our Marion players.  Our club is open to all players in the area, regardless of school they attend.

We offer low club dues and a commitment to flexibility to ensure athletes can participate in other sports and activities.

Team Offerings

League Team

Our teams start at the 9u level (players in 3rd grade). The team focuses on the basics and fundamentals of the sport. Teams will practice 1-2 nights a week for up to 90-minutes. The teams will participate in our Youth League on Friday nights in January, February, and March. Participation in 1-2 local tournaments is dependent on team.
If the numbers allow, we will have a 9u team and a 10u team, otherwise they will be combined to a single 9u/10u team.

Local League Team

A local league team is a team that will participate in the Friday night Youth League but will also enter into a few local, all-day tournaments. Teams will practice 1-2 nights a week for up to 90-minutes. Local is a relative term and generally means within a 60-minute driving radius. This team will also host a home tournament.

Local Team

Regional Team

A regional team is a team that is comprised of the 8-10 strongest players at that age level. This team will participate in 7 local, all-day tournaments and finish the season out with the 2-Day Junior Regionals in Des Moines. Teams will practice 1-2 nights a week for up to 90-minutes. Local is a relative term and generally means within a 60-minute driving radius, but could be further. This team will also host a home tournament.

How is playing time handled?

Playing time is not equal, however, each team member will have a designated role on the team. We do our best to accommodate players that play in multiple sports, however a lack of practice time can lead to a reduction in playing time. Playing time is not guaranteed for each tournament and can be taken away with violation of the Code of Conduct or at the discretion of the head coach.

What is required of the parents?

In addition to providing transportation to and from practices and tournaments, parents are also expected to assist with the concession stand during their child’s sponsored home tournament.  This tournament is necessary to off-set the cost of club dues.
